Coppiced Christmas Trees
Each year during the holiday season, Forestopia offers beautiful and naturally grown (agri-chemical free) coppiced christmas trees. Our trees are grown in the hills of Western Massachusetts, at both Forestopia's own site - The Forest Farm in Shutesbury, MA and the Pieropan Christmas Tree Farm in Ashfield, MA.
Coppiced trees are not killed when harvested, rather are cut high with a few branch whorls remaining. New trees are regenerated from the living stump and branches, again and again over many years. This is a much more ecologically sound way of producing trees, with no tillage or soil disturbance, and adbundant habitat for wildlife. It is an approach that can be integrated into a more holistic, regenerative agroforestry system, together with livestock, other crops and native trees. Purchase a tree online, and come by to choose the tree that sings to you and let it shine in your home!
