Why Agroforestry?
Agroforestry methods, which integrate perennial trees with other crops and livestock in well-managed systems, can help to increase and diversify farmer incomes while also providing numerous environmental benefits, such as improved soil and water quality, bio-diversity protection and increased carbon sequestration. Similarly, sustainable harvesting of non-timber forest products can be a critical component of successful forest conservation efforts, while also improving the livelihoods of forest-dependent communities and reducing pressure to cut dwindling forest resources.
